Coaches–Men's Golf

Mick McDaniel

Head Coach

Mick McDanielCoach McDaniel returns to the course for the 2014-15 year, bringing along some strong credentials. He previously coached TC3 for more than a decade, putting together one of the most impressive runs of success of any TC3 team in any sport. During a four year span, TC3 won two Region III titles, never finished worse than third in the Region and had two top-seven finishes at nationals. He coached an individual national champion, a two-time All-American, three MSAC individual champions, and dozens of all-region and all-MSAC performers. Coach McDaniel has coached men and women golfers, including TC3's first woman golfer to qualify for the national tournament, by working with each golfer on all facets of the game. His knowledge, experience, and coaching style translates to a positive experience for all his student athletes.

Panthers Finish 14th in Nation

The TC3 golf team finished tied for 14th at the NJCAA National Championship tournament at the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York this week. The Panthers saved the best for least, closing the four-day tournament with a Friday score of 309 to finish at 1295. Nassau Community College won the tournament, firing an impressive 291 today to finish at 1211 and win the tournament by seven strokes.
 
Friday was by far TC3’s best day of the week, with every members of the five-man team shooting an 81 or better. Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) led the team with his second straight 75. Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) added a 77 and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) came in at 78. Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) carded a 79 and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) finished at 81.
 
Nissan was TC3’s top performer for the week with a four-round total of 313 to tie for 37th among individuals. Forker ended two strokes back and tied for 47th. Jose Gutierrez of Louisburg College (N.C.) and Paul Jacobson of Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin ended the week tied at 294, with Gutierrez winning the individual national title in a playoff.


Panthers Drop to 16th at Nationals

Despite carding a solid score of 323, the TC3 men’s golf team dropped to 16th place at the NJCAA National Championship tournament Thursday. After three days of the four-day tournament, TC3 stands at 986. Montgomery College (Md.) took over first place with a three-round score of 918. Five teams posted scores of lower than 310 on the day, including Montgomery’s 307. The leader through the first two rounds, Louisburg College (N.C.), dropped to fourth, seven strokes off the pace. The tournament is being hosted by Jamestown Community College and the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York.
 
Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) led TC3 with a 75 with Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) next at 78. Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) posted an 83, Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) added an 87, and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) carded a 90.
 
Forker and Nissan each have three-day totals of 238, tied for 37th among individuals. Paul Jacobson of Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin continues to lead among individual scores with a three-day total of 220.


Panthers Improve on Day Two

Much improved weather conditions led to lower scores for every team at day two of the NJCAA National Championship tournament Tuesday. After opening the tournament with a 343, the Panthers came back with a 320 to stand at 663 halfway through the four-day tournament. Louisburg College (N.C.) leads the tournament with a 608, three strokes ahead of Montgomery College (Md.). The tournament is being hosted by Jamestown Community College and the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York.
 
Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) led TC3 with a 76 while Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) added a 78. Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) each finished at 83. Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) added a 91.
 
Forker is TC3’s top individual after two days with a score of 160, good for 45th among individuals. Paul Jacobson of Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin continues to lead among individual scores with a two-day total of 145.


Panthers Struggle on Day One at Nationals

The TC3 golf team struggled through a rough day one at the NJCAA National Championship tournament Tuesday. Playing in extremely windy conditions, the Panthers fired a team total of 343 to finish the day tied for 15th and 36 strokes behind the pace set by Louisburg College (NC). Nassau Community College is second one stroke behind Louisburg. The four-day tournament includes 107 golfers from over 20 states and 40 colleges. The tournament will result in both team and individual national champions. The tournament is being hosted by Jamestown Community College and the Chautauqua Golf Course in Chautauqua, New York.
 
Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) led TC3 with an 82. Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) followed at 84 and Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) was next with an 85. Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) finished with a 92 and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) carded a 96.
 
Paul Jacobson of Madison Area Technical College in Wisconsin had the top individual score with a one-under par 71.
 
TC3's first player will tee off at 9:40 on Wednesday. The Panthers will be paired with Rock Valley College of Illinois and University of South Carolina-Lancaster, the same as on Tuesday.


Panthers Claim First Region III Title

The TC3 men's golf team made history Tuesday, rallying to win the first NJCAA Region III title in the school's history by beating the defending national champions and the rest of the region at the two-day tournament. The Panthers fired a team score of 317 Tuesday for a two-day total of 647 to win the tournament by three strokes. Jamestown finished second, while Monroe, the defending national champs and the leader after day one, finished third at 659. Corning, which had been tied with TC3 in second place after day one, finished fourth out of the nine teams.
 
The two-day tournament was held at Cornell University's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. With the regional title, TC3 qualifies for the NJCAA tournament held in June in Chautauqua. It is the third time TC3 has qualified for the tournament as a team, with the other two times coming as the result of second place finishes in 1994 and 2005.
 
Tuesday's action showed the depth of TC3's team. After not using his score on Monday, Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) came up big with a 77. Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) added a 78 and Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) followed with an 80. Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) rounded out the team scoring with an 82.
 
Nissan, Stone, and Forker earned all-region honors for finishing among the top 15 individuals. Nissan was the top TC3 golfer, finishing fourth. TEAM RESULTS 1. TC3- 647 2. Jamestown CC- 650 3. Panthers Tied for Second After Day One

The TC3 men's golf team stands tied for second after day one of the NJCAA Region III tournament. The Panthers recorded a team score of 330 to finish the day four strokes behind Monroe and even with Corning. Jamestown stands six strokes back in fourth place. The two-day tournament features nine teams competing for the regional title at Cornell University's Robert Trent Jones Golf Course. The top two teams qualify for the NJCAA tournament. The top five individuals not on one of the qualifying teams also earn trips to the national tournament.
 
After Monday's action, Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) stood tied for fourth with a 79. Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) is tied for ninth at 82. Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) added an 84 and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) finished at 85. Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) carded a 90.


Panthers Fifth at TC3 Invite

The TC3 golf team fired a 316 to finish fifth in the highly-competitive TC3 Invite Sunday at Elm Tree Golf Course in Cortland. Monroe and Erie tied for the team title with scores of 309. Jamestown was third at 312 followed by Cobleskill at 314.
 
Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) led TC3 with a 73, good for second best among all individual scores. Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) fired a 77 and Kyle Nissen (Onteora HS/Onteora) added an 81. James Fitzpatrick (Mt. Morris HS/Mt. Morris) rounded out the team score with an 85.


Panthers Fourth at Corning

The TC3 men's golf team took a fourth place finish at the Corning Invitational Saturday, coming in 11 strokes behind tournament champion Monroe Community College with a 333. Jamestown was second at 330 followed by Cobleskill at 331. Nine teams participated.
 
TC3's Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) each had a top five finish with an 81. James Fitzpatrick (Mt. Morris HS/Mt. Morris) and Benjamin Kalweit (Union Springs HS/Aurora) rounded out the team at 85 and 86.
 
TC3's Rasmita Taylert (Trumansburg HS/Ithaca) was the top female golfer, carding a 94.


Panthers Third Again

The TC3 men's golf team finished third at the Monroe Invitational Monday, the Panthers' third straight third finish. TC3 recorded a team total of 344 to finish 13 strokes behind the winning Monroe team. Jamestown was second at 342. Eight teams took part in the tournament.
 
TC3's Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) had the fifth best individual score with an 82. Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) had a top-ten finish with an 85. James Fitzpatrick (Mt. Morris HS/Mt. Morris) and Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) rounded out the team at 88 and 89.
 
TC3's Rasmita Taylert (Trumansburg HS/Ithaca) was the top female golfer, carding a 92.


Panthers Third at Cobleskill

The TC3 golf team finished third at the SUNY Cobleskill Invitational Sunday. The Panthers fired a score of 328. Monroe won the tournament with a 315 followed by Jamestown at 325. It was the second straight third place finish for TC3.

Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) led the team with a 76, the third best individual score. Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) earned another top ten finish with a 78. James Fitzpatrick (Mt. Morris HS/Mt. Morris) added an 86 and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) finished at 89.

The TC3 golf team finished third at the SUNY Delhi Invitation Saturday. The Panthers fired a score of 318 to finish just five strokes back of tournament-champion Monroe Community College. Corning took second at 315.

Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) led TC3, each scoring a 76 to tie for third. Kyle Nissan (Onteora HS/Onteora) carded an 80 and Dustin Clark (Union Springs HS/Union Springs) rounded out the team with an 86.

The TC3 men's golf team took fourth place at the Jamestown Community College Invitational Sunday. The Panthers recorded a team score of 330 to finish 26 strokes behind the home team. TC3's Rasmita Taylert (Trumansburg HS/Ithaca) was the top female golfer, carding an 83 at the par-74 Chautauqua Country Club.
 
Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) led TC3, recording a top ten finish with a 78. Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) scored an 81 with James Fitzpatrick (Mt. Morris HS/Mt. Morris) a stroke back at 82. Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) came in at 89.


Panthers Third at Jaguar Invite

Playing at the Jamestown Community College-Cattaraugus Jaguar Invite Friday, the TC3 men's golf team took third place with a score of 334 at the par-70 Bartlett Country Club. Corning Community College won the tournament with a 318 followed by Jamestown Community College at 321. Nine teams competed at the event. On the women's side, TC3's Rasmita Taylert (Trumansburg HS/Ithaca) took medallist honors with an 87.
 
TC3's men's team was led by Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland). Forker fired a 76 to finish tied for second among individuals. Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora) and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) each carded an 85 and Dustin Clark (Union Spring HS/Union Springs) finished with an 88.


TC3 Fifth in Opener

The first outing of the season found the TC3 golf team in the middle of the pack, finishing fifth out of eight teams at the Broome Invitational at the Endwell Greens Golf Course Saturday. TC3 recorded a team score of 335 to finish 25 strokes behind tournament champion Monroe Community College.
 
TC3 was led by Andrew Forker (Cortland HS/Cortland) and Ben Kalweit (Southern Cayuga HS/Aurora), each carding an 83. Dustin Clark (Union Spring HS/Union Springs) added an 84 and Kyle Stone (Lansing HS/Dryden) rounded out the team scoring with an 85.
 
Rasmita Taylert (Trumansburg HS/Ithaca) was the top female golfer at the tournament, carding a 90.
 
TC3 travels to Chautauqua this weekend for the Jamestown Tournament.
