Brooks Reed Voted All-Region
May 25, 2016
Tompkins Cortland Community College sophomore lacrosse player Brooks Reed (Ithaca H.S./Ithaca) has been named to the NJCAA Region III all-region team. The defender was selected to the first team, and was the only member of the first team not from Onondaga Community College or Genesee Community College, the two teams that played in the NJCAA national championship game. A total of 12 players were selected for first-team honors. Voting was done by the coaches from the 10 Region III teams.
Reed, who was also a two-time Mid-State Athletic Conference all-conference selection, started all 11 games as a defender. He was key contributor to a defense that posted the third-best goals against average in the region (10.4). The Panthers held opponents under 10 goals six times, and under five goals four times, the most in a season in program history. Reed also scored two goals this season, giving him three for his career.
Reed is the second repeat all-region selection in the history of Tompkins Cortland lacrosse. Brett Gifford was the first two-time selection, being honored in 2011 and 2012.
