A variety of services and materials are available to help you to develop more effective and efficient study skills. The term "study skills" includes a wide range of topics including:

Study Skills Assistance

Individual Sessions

Individual appointments are available with Rick Grossman or a Baker Center professional tutor.. These one-hour sessions provide you with the opportunity to discuss your learning styles, current strategies, and specific areas of interest. You and the specialist will work together to develop strategies to meet your individual needs and/or current academic challenges. Appointments can be made at the Learning Commons reception desk (Rooms 130) or by calling 607.844.8222, ext. 4414.

Study Skills Courses

RDNG 116 is available to assist in the development of effective study skills. RDNG 116 (College Reading and Study Skills) is a three-credit course offered every semester at a variety of times and locations. Contact Rick Grossman,, for more information (607.844.8222, Ext.4247).

Study Skills Tip Sheets

Tips and techniques sheets are available on a variety of specific study skills topics including memory improvement, lecture note taking, textbook reading and marking, preparing for exams, exam taking, and time management. These sheets are available in the Baker Center and on the web.
